Partial Map of 1874 Carlisle Township

Showing Locations mentioned in Through Country Lanes in The Eighties
by Creta Squires Walker

In today's world, this trip would have taken them down Middle Ave in Elyria, to the intersection of where Oberlin Rd turns off to the right. Beebe's Hollow would be the slight dip in the roadway just after West Ave and Oberlin Rd.

The railroad tracks are the ones near Value City. They then went around what is known today as Hall Rd - that goes behind Stoney's Bowling Lanes. Coming back out on today's Oberlin Rd (Rt 20) they went past West River Rd and past Murray Ridge Rd. The County Infirmary is where the Lorain County Sheriff's Department is today and the county jail.

Enjoy this trip back in time.
