Alfred Bates

Alfred Bates, shown here in his Civil War uniform, was a member of the 19th. Battery of Ohio Light Artillery. This unit was mustered into service on September 10, 1862 at Camp Cleveland and served in the following battles: 1) Seige of Knoxville, TN from Nov. 17th. - Dec. 4th., 1863. 2) East Tennessee Campaign 1863 - 1864. 3) Seige of Atlanta, GA from July 28th. - Sept. 2, 1864. 4) Nashville, TN on Dec. 15th. and 16th., 1864. It was mustered out on June 27, 1865 at Camp Cleveland. Alfred Bates held the rank of Private. Age 33. Enlisted on Aug. 12, 1862 to serve three years. Mustered out with the battery on June 27, 1865.
