Sons of the American Revolution

Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) was chartered April 3, 1976, and encompasses North-central Ohio, including Lorain, Erie and Huron counties.

The purpose of the Sons of the American Revolution is "to perpetuate the memory of those who, by their services or sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution, achieved the independence of the American People."

Membership is open to any man of age eighteen (18) years or over, who is a lineal descendant of an ancestor who supported the war for American independence is eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. These ancestors are referred to as Revolutionary War Patriots and include those persons who fought in the military and/or militia, who provided supplies to the American cause, who served on political bodies supporting the Revolution, who signed oaths of support and similar acts.

Chapter meetings are held on the third Saturday of March, May, September and November, at 12:00 noon. These meetings are open to members, guests and any other interested persons.
