I'm looking for family information on the surname VANDENBERG. Alida VANDENBERG married Louis DUIKER in Cleveland abt.1925. Alida was the daughter of Anna VANDENBERG of La Grange. I'm puzzled because my grandfather's sister was Elizabeth VANDENBERG and I'd bet this family is also related. Any information is appreciated. Thanks, Cindy Duiker Mac Suibhne.

I am searching for information on Lorenzo Holtslander who was the son of Lewis Hultslander, the first mayor of Oberlin. Lorenzo was married to an Electa Parsons. They adopted a child Carrie Blodgett Holtslander-Holtzlander. The 1850 census in Lorain CO, shows Lorenzo, 29, with Celia, 22. ? Was this an error? Lorenzo showed up on the 1870 census in Michigan with two children Edwin 10, and Hattie 8. Also Julia 19, and Charles 1 1/2. I would appreciate any information as to what happened to Electa Parsons and Carrie. Also was Julia from Lorain Co. too? This has been a stumbling block for me, and I would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thank you. Beverly (Holtzlander) Mallory

I am looking for any information on the family of Sylvester S. STEVENS (3xGrGrandfather), who in the 1850 Census was living in Huntington Twp. with wife Elizabeth and children. (Help with Maiden Name/Parents would be GREATLY Appreciated) Sylvester and Elizabeth were both born in NY as were the older children; they apparently migrated to Ohio in the 1840's (My 2xGrGrandfather Simeon S. was born in Ohio in 1843) and then moved to Buchanan Twp. in Berrien Co., Michigan after 1850. Ann E. STEVENS, Born 1831, in NY married Luther SAGE, born 1825 in Ohio. (I found Luther in 1850 Census in Huntington Twp. living with a 17 year old female, Mary Sage, born in Michigan--wife or sister?) I also have located in Old Huntington Center cemetery records a burial for Edmond Sage, son of L. & A.E., on Dec 7, 1852, age 7m 10d. Ann and Luther Sage also moved to Berrien Co. and are buried in the Stevens plot in Buchanan - along with Syvlester and Elizabeth, son Wm. R and wife Margaret, son Franklin (died in Civil War) and son John (who died 2 days after being discharged on the trip home), daughter Thankful Jane Tomlinson, and my great-great grandparents Simeon Stevens and wife Susan Maddron. (The family is in Berrien Co. in the 1860 census and three sons served in Michigan regiments in the civil war.) I would love to hear from any one who is working on these families? Where did they come from in NY and why? Why did they decide to move on to SW Michigan after about 10-15 years in Ohio? Does anyone know the parents of Sylvester or Elizabeth? Wilson's second marriage 13 Mar 1883 was to my great grandmother's sister, Fanny M. STEEPER.) The problem I have is with the maiden name of Mary Ann. Looking for any information concerning the ASHENHURST family of Lorain Co., Ohio. My gg-grandmother, Emeline "Emily" T. ASHENHURST, born Feb 1, 1829 Ohio, married Chauncey R. CLOSE Feb. 22, 1846 Lorain Co., Ohio, died Jan 4, 1865 Lorain Co., Ohio. She had an apparent sister, Fanny ASHENHURST, and brother, Jerome ASHENHURST, who both appear in the 1850 census. I am looking for someone who may know of Daniel Dwight CADWELL, born 16 April 1796 and died in April 1843 at Avon, Lorain Co. OH. He was son of Timothy CADWELL, JR. and grandson of Timothy CADWELL, SR. Daniel married (1) Laura WILLIAMS on 26 September 1816 in Washington, Berkshire Co., Mass. and she died 12 June 1831 and buried at the AV-8 Mounds Cemetery, Avon. (2) Mary BURR (HOUSE) KINNEY, married on 26 July 1832 and she died in 1886. Laura (WILLIAMS) CADWELL, whose headstone reads "Consort of CAPT. Daniel CADWELL" is buried in the AV-8 Mounds Cemetery, as well as their daughters, Melissa Elvira CADWELL and Adeline S. CADWELL. Laura's parents are also buried there: John WILLIAMS, her father, died 29 January 1840 and her mother, Clarissa (HAMLIN) WILLIAMS, died 8 October 1839. It has been reported that Daniel was buried at the AV-8 Mounds Cemetery, Avon, but that his headstone was discarded after a truck overturned on it. A descendant of Daniel's second wife said she visited the Avon Cemetery and found Daniel buried between Mary's two husbands, Anson KINNEY and Cornelius SEELEY. However, there is no record of any of Mary's three husbands buried in the AV-8 Mounds Cemetery. Submitted by Laura Dreyer, 9153 Yarrow Street, Apt. 1512, Westminster, CO 80021-4587
