STEVENS, STEPHENS, SAGE, MADDRON I am looking for any information on the family of Sylvester S. STEVENS (3xGrGrandfather), who in the 1850 Census was living in Huntington Twp. with wife Elizabeth and children. (Help with Maiden Name/Parents would be GREATLY Appreciated) Sylvester and Elizabeth were both born in NY as were the older children; they apparently migrated to Ohio in the 1840's (My 2xGrGrandfather Simeon S. was born in Ohio in 1843) and then moved to Buchanan Twp. in Berrien Co., Michigan after 1850. Ann E. STEVENS, Born 1831, in NY married Luther SAGE, born 1825 in Ohio. (I found Luther in 1850 Census in Huntington Twp. living with a 17 year old female, Mary Sage, born in Michigan--wife or sister?) I also have located in Old Huntington Center cemetery records a burial for Edmond Sage, son of L. & A.E., on Dec 7, 1852, age 7m 10d. Ann and Luther Sage also moved to Berrien Co. and are buried in the Stevens plot in Buchanan - along with Syvlester and Elizabeth, son Wm. R and wife Margaret, son Franklin (died in Civil War) and son John (who died 2 days after being discharged on the trip home), daughter Thankful Jane Tomlinson, and my great-great grandparents Simeon Stevens and wife Susan Maddron. (The family is in Berrien Co. in the 1860 census and three sons served in Michigan regiments in the civil war.) I would love to hear from any one who is working on these families? Where did they come from in NY and why? Why did they decide to move on to SW Michigan after about 10-15 years in Ohio? Does anyone know the parents of Sylvester or Elizabeth?
